BIS Collaborative Forum Invite and Sub-groups

Happy New Year to All!

Just before Christmas, many (some?) of your organisations will have received an invitation letter from BIS to participate in the reformed Gateways to the Professions Collaborative Forum, and specifically to nominate people to work on the various sub-groups.  The requested response date was yesterday (4th Jan).

The UKIPG has responded positively, and Margaret Watson (current CILIP representative and Chair of FEandHE WP) has agreed to continue as our primary representative on the Forum.  This has been communicated to the Secretariat.  The UKIPG Chairman (Jane Hern) is keen for UKIPG to be represented, in one form or another, on each of the Sub-Groups, and that we should co-ordinate our efforts through existing structures (such as FEand HEWP).

Could you kindly let the UKIPG Secretary know asap:

  • Whether you have received a direct invitation.
  • How you have responded to participation either in the main Forum or Sub-groups.
  • If you have nominated someone, whether you would permit that person to 'double up' as a UKIPG rep as well - and if so let us know who it is.
  • If you have not been invited, or not yet responded, whether you would consider nominating anyone to represent UKIPG on a Sub-group, especially in work for which your profession - or a particular person (staff of member) - has expertise.

Note that SG 5 addresses the two recommendations to 'Statutory Regulators', rather than 'the professions' generically, and recommendation 85 has a 'corporate governance' connection.

A rapid response would be appreciated - it is better for us to be 'inside' this work than 'shouting from the sidelines'.  Apologies to those who have already been contacted individually.
