Report on Meeting with NARIC on 7th September
Since the NARIC meeting on 7th September, the UKIPG Secretary has been engaged in multiple other meetings in support of this week's Main Group meeting, and other matters. Rather than write up separate notes of the NARIC meeting, the Secretary wrote it up in the form of a paper (UKIPG.P23.09) for the 21st September UKIPG Main Group meeting, having checked the draft with a couple of attendees. It was used it as a Main Group paper, and then as feedback to NARIC, together with a few other comments from the Main Group. This was done - and acknowledged - in two E-Mails.
Part of 'the deal', both at the 7th Sep meeting itself and at Main Group was that we would share mutual e-mail contacts with NARIC. So I have updated the intended Attendance List (intended because a few individuals had to pull out) and added the e-mails to it. This is not exhaustive of UKIPG membership or of the professions involved in UKIPG. I will work later to make it as full as possible. To do that, I will need further work with other bodies not on the first list.
Dorothy Wood of ACCA will remain the UKIPG's first contact on the Quality Standards Group of NARIC, although the UKIPG Secretary will also get involved. The next task will be to try to make shape of the 'How to describe a professional title in qualification terms' issue.
As some people came to the meeting without the benefit of NARIC's earlier presentation to Main Group, the Powerpoint from Dec 08 is included here, together with a couple of slides used to illustrate a point in discussion at the meeting.
We have set up a new Group on the web-site called the NARIC Liaison Group; the addressees of this e-mail form the Group. A few names were not previously listed as 'Users' - but they have been added and 'Invitation to Log-in' e-mails should have been automatically generated. If you have a problem, e-mail the UKIPG Secretary. The e-mail is also addressed to FE&HEWP.
Finally, there was some discussion at the meeting about contributions to the NARIC Conference. Jim Birch finally rescheduled his commitments to speak on Day 2.
