Call for a UKIPG Represntative
The presentation at the December Main Group meeting explained the role and functioning of NARIC. A report and copy of the Powerpoint presentation can be found on the web-site page for the Main Group December 2009 meeting.
Arising out of that contact with NARIC, UKIPG has been invited to nominate a representative to be a member of its Quality Standards Group, which meets twice a year in Cheltenham. The next meetings are scheduled for 11th February and 1st July, both from 1100 to 1400. Please see the Terms of Reference for the Group
It was agreed at the December Main Group meeting that UKIPG should be represented. We have now been asked to nominate someone, so we are looking for a volunteer from FE&HEWP with appropriate interest and background. The Group already has a GMC representative. Whilst this need not inhibit who represents UKIPG, it might make for a better balance if our representative was not from a statutory health regulator, but from a Chartered body / 'competent authority'.
To assist with getting started, the UKIPG Secretary can (and has offered) to attend the 11th Feb meeting, if it is too short notice for any volunteer representaive. We ought not to miss this invitation; please let the UKIPG Secretary know if you can help.
FURTHER QUESTION
Policy on Charging for Course Accreditation Visits
I have been asked by one member body whether any others make charges for vists to HEIs to accredit or approve courses for registration / membership. It would help if you could let the Secretary know by e-mail. You might want to elaborate on whether the same policy is applied within the UK, within Europe, and to the Rest of the World; whether any charge is a fee or panel expenses or both; and whether 'charging or not' is a result of statute or internal policy. Thanks!
