Request for Inputs from Professional Bodies

QAA and UKIPG PSRB Forum Topic for 12th March 2010

There is already some information available on the QAA / UKIPG Professional and Statutory Body Forum meetings for 2010; the dates are on the UKIPG Web-site Calendar.

QAA is trying to finalise a programme for the next meeting on 12th March and is looking for one or two PSRB representatives to contribute to the programme, which is being put together by Dr Cathy Lean of QAA.  [Likely topics for the 2nd and 3rd meetings are 'Student Participation in Accreditation' and 'Work-based Learning' respectively]

The focus now is the 12th March meeting at the Bloomsbury Hotel, 1345 - 1630.  The 'blurb' from QAA, in an E-mail to the UKIPG Secretary about this meeting, follows:

"David and I are looking into a few options at QAA around the 'supporting
sustainability' theme, relating specifically to virtual and desk based
visits. We're hoping to be able to find someone to present on the
challenges and benefits of one or both of these, and/or their cost
effectiveness. We're also considering a small survey to gather feedback
from reviewers.

We were wondering whether, to complement this, we might be able to find
representatives from PSRBs who could speak on comparable topics such as
mutual/joint accreditation, cartel/chain reviews or other forms of
collaboration (again discussing challenges, benefits, costs, etc. in
relation to economic/environmental sustainability).
We probably wouldn't
need as many speakers as last time, but were wondering if you knew of
perhaps a couple of people who might fit the bill?"

Is there anyone out there who would be prepared to put in an input?  If so, would you kindly let Cathy Lean know at QAA, info copy to the UKIPG Secretary.   As there was not too much enthusiasm shown at the recent FE&HEWP meeting - albeit this particular request was not then to hand - the 'catchment' has been widened to include the Inter Professional CPD Forum as well as FE&HEWP, in case there are representatives from Professional Bodies, who are members of that Forum but not of the main UKIPG itself, who might be able to contribute to this event. Usually an input of about 15 mins is all that is required.

Also, dont forget to sign up for the joint 'Trust in the Professions' Conference at Staple Inn Hall on 25th February 2010.  Book through University of Leeds 'Professional Ethics Network'
