British Psychological Society - Lay Member for Accreditation Panel

“The British Psychological Society offers postgraduate qualifications in a range of domains of practice, which are designed to meet the requirements for registration with the Health Professions Council, the statutory regulator for practitioner psychologists in the UK. The Society has put in place a programme of internal quality assurance for these qualifications, and wishes to expand the panel of experts that has been appointed to for this purpose. Our first validation events took place in April 2009, and a further four events will take place between January and June 2010.

We are looking for a non-psychologist with familiarity with and experience of validation or course accreditation to act as a lay member of one of our validation panels. Experience of or familiarity with competence-based assessment, and professional training that is delivered outside of traditional Higher Education Institution (HEI) based provision, is desirable.

This is an excellent development opportunity for a senior quality assurance or qualifications officer from a professional body background. Panel members will be expected to participate in two validation events during 2010. Further events are planned for 2011.

Potential applicants are encouraged to contact Lucy Kerry, Quality Assurance Manager at Lucy.Kerry@bps.org.uk for further information and a statement of interest form. The deadline for receipt of completed applications is 30 September 2009.
